A joyful orientation program was held to warmly welcome the new students, organized by the students of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) at the University of Dhaka. The event was arranged by THM 17th batch for the incoming 18th batch.
The program took place on April 23, 2026, at the TSC Auditorium. The central theme of the event was Bollywood, featuring songs, dance, and various cultural performances that created a vibrant atmosphere for the newcomers.
The program’s chief guest was the department’s Chairman, Professor Dr. Md. Shariful Alam Khandakar. Other distinguished faculty members were present, including former Chairman and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Barishal, Professor Dr. M. Badruzzaman Bhuiyan; former Chairman Professor Dr. Santus Kumar Deb; Professor Md. Kamrul Hassan; and Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Shoeb-Ur-Rahman.
Senior batches of the department-13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th-actively participated in the program. Through music, dance, and various performances, they made the event lively and helped build friendly connections with the newcomers.
The event was successfully executed through the collective effort, creativity, and dedication of the 17th batch. Their overall management reflected discipline, aesthetic presentation, and excellent teamwork.
For the new students, this event served as a unique introduction to the department. The warm reception, friendly environment, and spirit of cooperation helped foster a strong bond among the students, which is expected to positively contribute to their academic and co-curricular activities in the future.
